What Happened 94 Years Ago Today?
94 years ago today, Oregon imposed the countries first gas tax. It was a 5¢ per gallon tax. In the following decade, all of the U.S. states (48 at the time), along with the District of Columbia, introduced a gasoline tax. By 1939, an average tax of 3.8¢ per gallon of fuel was levied by the individual states.

Today is 7-Eleven Day!
As part of their annual marketing effort, 7-Eleven will be giving away FREE 7.11 oz Slurpee drinks today.
The company is attempting to avoid last year's hickup when it ran out of the 7.11 oz cups by doubling their cup order this year.
If it gets too hot while you're out looking for new homes today with your favorite Realtor, swing by 7-Eleven and beat the heat by grabbing a free Slurpee!

How I can help YOU!!
Many of you may be unfamiliar with how the realtor/real estate agent/locating process works when finding a rental in Dallas/Fort Worth. I wanted to write this blog to help you understand how my services work and why using me would be to your advantage!
1. Using a realtor to help find a rental doesn't cost YOU a thing! That's right, I am not paid by my client/customer, instead when we find you a place to live and you sign a lease I am then paid by the property management company/landlord.

Zillow and Trulia
These two sites have disappointed a few too many clients lately, in my opinion. I'll get a call from a client who is all pumped up about a property they found, only to have to turn around and tell them that it's in the option period and the contract looks strong. No one seems to want to put in a back up contract because we all know "second is NOT the best" as was said in that old grade-school chant. So, I'll stick to good 'ol

I am Maranda and I am a REALTOR®.
Hi, I am Maranda and I am a REALTOR®. “Oh”, is usually the response I get. Many assume all I do is sell houses.

Beat The SMU Rush!
With second semester not even underway it sounds crazy to talk about moving plans for the end of the school year. However, in my experience the sooner the better when it comes to finding your next apartment or condo by SMU. As a former student there, I can personally vouch that it gets pretty chaotic around March, April and May with everyone who has waited last minute to find a place. So Why Wait?? Now is as good a time as any to start seeing what types of places are currently available and also what will be available in the coming months.
