How to Make Moving Easier on Your 4-Legged Family Members
I know for me, my dog has never been just a "dog," he is my son! Our pets thrive on love and affection, but they also are comfortable in their routines. Moving is hectic on everyone, so you know it won't be easy for your pet either. Here are a few things you can do to make your move a little less stressful for your pup or kitty:
1. Visit the veterinarian: ask about sedation options for travel, vaccination needs, and be sure your pet is micro-chipped in case they are lost during your move somehow. Also, be sure to locate a trusty vet's office near your new home.
2. For car travel, be sure to take frequent bathroom breaks along the way, and try to hold food from your dog 4 hours before traveling (yes, even dogs can get car sick!). Also, be sure your dog is getting plenty of water during the trip.
3. Surround your dog with familiar items; this will help them feel more secure in the midst of all the chaos.
4. Don't change your dog's food during a move, and try to continue feeding them at their normal time.
5. Don't forget playtime and exercise! These things are extremely important for the emotional and physical health of your dog.
Hope this is helpful for you! If you are looking to BUY, SELL OR RENT, please call me!
