Two Worlds, One Destination: Park Seventeen
I was just toying around with Google Earth in hopes of finding some new condos in Uptown a friend was telling me about when I came across this instead: Park Seventeen, the innovative product of Granite Properties and Gables Residential. It is a brand new "mixed-use development", as they call it, which offers 361,000 sq ft in office space, 292 luxury Gables apartments and over 15,000 sq ft in retail. According to their website, it is projected to be complete April 1, 2010 but I'm assuming that's not gonna happen. I will have to do a drive-by and scope it out.
Park Seventeen consists of two 26-story twin towers, one for residential use ("The Gables at Park Seventeen") and one for commercial use ("17Seventeen McKinney"). Hence the term "Two Worlds, One Destination". Clever. But wait, it gets better...the two towers are connected by an amazing amenity deck on the 7th floor that makes you feel like you are on vacation at some plush resort...definitely not at work! It has an outdoor pool overlooking Dallas, a 4,000 sq ft gym and a 1-acre park with actual tree-lined paths. Really, you would never have to leave the development. Maybe to go to the bank...oh wait, nope...there's a bank in the commercial tower's lobby. Convenience at its finest.
Not only is the concept brilliant and the design pretty to look at but its also environmentally friendly! In fact, Park Seventeen is the first gold LEED ("Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design") high-rise office building in Dallas. LEED certified buildings use resources more efficiently than your average building, creating a healthier work and living environment.

Or even better, next time you are out driving in Uptown or Downtown, put 1717 McKinney Avenue in the navigation and get a look at the next best thing for yourself.
"Two Worlds, One Destination, All the Best".
