Downtown Dallas is the Place to See
An episode of the hit TV show Dallas inspired my blog today.Let me explain what I'm talking about. It all started last week when the snow covered Dallas. Apparently my Direct TV does not like the snow because it was out most of that day. With no TV I busted out the DVD's. I came across season one of the series Dallas.Yes, I'm talking JR and that catchy theme song that I have been humming for almost a week now. The introduction shows downtown Dallas in 1978. Seeing that picture of the city in 78 made me think of how much downtown Dallas and the surrounding real estate market has changed since then.

So with downtown still fresh on my brain it was perfect timing to meet a new client who wanted to live in the heart of the city this past weekend. Working in downtown she wanted to be closer to work and her friends. We got a little caught up with all the NBA All Star banners and party promotions that were going on later that day and night. Once we got back at the task at hand it was pretty clear downtown had more to offer then I remembered.
It was great to be in downtown during the day and realize how much it has come along. Most people know about Stone Street/Main Street which is kind of the epicenter. This is where Campisi's, Iron Cactus and the Joule Hotel are located. I saw that the Dallas Chop House has opened @ 1717 Main( its just A few blocks from Neiman Marcus). Right across from the Chop House is the Main Street Garden Park which is a great addition to the city(If you're in the area go drive by the park, its pretty impressive!). Underneath the Metropolitan condos is a 7-11. I know your saying big deal A 7-11, who cares. It is a big deal because the 30,000 or so people living in downtown now have access to convenience store in the area.
If you're wondering my new client did find a place to live that day. She has a great place and she can walk to work if she wants. Downtown Dallas has a lot to offer and don't knock it until you try it. If they ever make that rumored Dallas the movie downtown would be a great background for filming.
