Dallas Tex-Mex
Last month I had sandwich's on the brain. This month the food I can't stop thinking about is Tex-Mex. I think it all started with Taco Joint. I was pretty much sold on my first bite into the chicken tacos. Plus they have a silky queso that I could eat until I made myself sick. Dallas has some excellent Tex-Mex joints. When I get this craving I think of the places I love to go to and the places I still want to try.
The places I heart are Mia's(love the chill atmosphere and the food is great),Matt's Rancho Martinez(the bob armstrong dip is something that holds a special place in my heart),Mi Cocina( The one in Highland Park Village is my favorite. Great people watching here and good food of course),Gloria's( love the bean paste dip),Monica's( this sometimes forgotten spot in Deep Ellum has great food),Joe T's( yes I know its technically in Fort Worth but it makes my list. The best time to go is on Sunday for brunch. They have more then two options for Sunday brunch), Uncle Julio's( it may be a chain but its pretty freaking good!), Manny's( the brisket is the best thing on the menu), Chuy's( now Chuy's has grown on me over the years. The ranch type dip they give you is pretty tasty and that alone is enough to make my list), Blue Goose( great beef nachos here and its a good spot to be in for St. Patty's day), Cyclone Anaya(great shredded chicken) and last but not least Taco Joint (I already mentioned the queso but I like the fact the portions are small and I can actually eat it for lunch and go back to work not feeling sleepy).

Some of the places that are on my list to do are Avila's, Gonzalez in Oak Cliff, El Fenix, Ojedas and Urban Taco. Avila's is the one I really want to try next. I first saw it on the Food Network when Guy Fieri went there for his show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. The other place I really want to try is El Fenix. Even though this place is a chain I feel like you have to go there at least once if you live in DFW.
If you have any suggestions on places I did not mention please share. Contact me @ intownsteve@aol.com
