West Dallas Wakeboarding

West Dallas can be seen across the Trinity River from Downtown Dallas. Yet, this is an area of town that has long been ignored. The area is probably most famous because Bonnie and Clyde once lived here before they went on a crime spree that captivated the nation.

Near Hampton and Singleton Road sits Fish Trap Lake which will be home to the new Dallas WaterSports complex. Cable Wakeboarding has arrived in West Dallas! For those of you not familiar with this concept its basically an overhead cable moving about 18 miles an hour that pulls you on your wakeboard, water ski's or kneeboard. If you happen to fall off the cable then you just swim back to the dock and start over again. Pricing is still in the works but the park is estimating cost to start out around $20 for three hours.

So now you can stay in the city limits and wakeboard without a boat pulling you! There are a handful of cable wake parks in the country with the closet one being in New Braunfels, Texas. This unique concept should fair well in DFW which has a large demographic that likes to wakeboard.

This park is A step in the right direction for change in West Dallas. With the park being situated near the Design District,Downtown, the Belmont Hotel, Oak Cliff and Uptown there is a lot of potential for more growth in the area. Maybe even one day you will see a demand for single family homes and condos in this area?
